Born in 1974 in Toronto, ON, Canada, my life and career has been marked by the phrase, ‘walk the talk’. A plaque with the statement adorns both my kitchen and office walls to serve as a constant reminder that my words are my bond.
In grammar school, I was popular with the teachers and administrators finding my classmates too juvenile to pay much attention to; perhaps a hazard to being an only child.
I moved away from home at 14 to attend boarding school and threw myself into every extra curricular activity available. From debating to school government, band, choir and theatre, I did it all and spent a day a month in the school infirmary to recuperate and rest.
I also had the opportunity to work behind the scenes at the Walt Disney World EPCOT Center in a ‘think tank’ for 2 consecutive years during spring break; thus establishing my life long affection for Disney as a company, personally and professionally.
During my high school years, I discovered my love of running and in addition to being on various cross-country running teams, also joined the rowing, field hockey and girls soccer teams.
In my senior year, I was dealt a devastating blow when my student teacher passed away suddenly one afternoon at a school BBQ event. This tragedy ended my high school year abruptly and had me entering university earlier than expected. I began a liberal arts degree in 1992 to escape and meet my love.
We married a year later and moved to Scottsdale, AZ spending the next 5 years living and working in the Sonoran Desert. From there, we traveled most of North America even settling in Central America to welcome their first born child.
We have continued to mark our years with change having moved a total of 35 times, to date, raised two children and continue to do life together after an astonishing 29 years.
Professionally, I have never stopped educating myself. I went back to school after more than 20 years of nonprofit leadership experience and decided to legitimize myself as a project managment professional. As my CV well displays, education and a life of learning is the hallmark of my career. Today, I am proud to share my experiences strategically as a professional coach, executive educator, nonprofit specialist and thought leader specializing in stakeholder and communication management.
My love and I at our happy place!
